This election has demonstrated the population's awareness of being the masters of Macau and their enthusiasm to participate in politics, said Chief Executive today, following completion of the first Legislative Election after the establishment of Macau SAR.

Chief Executive said that the first Legislative Election after the establishment of Macau SAR was an important political event of Macau which realized the implementation principles of 'One Country Two Systems', 'Macau People ruling Macau' and high autonomy in the Macau SAR. The Residents of Macau, by exercising their rights protected by the Basic Law, has enabled the smooth proceeding of this election.

He also said that the Government anticipated to the new legislator¡¦s contribution to the well being of the population and the prosperity of Macau, as their supporters have expected from them.

Edmund Ho underlined the importance that the preparation and campaigns for this election has elaborated the civil awareness of the publics. Adding that the number of candidates and lists participated in this election has demonstrated the population's awareness of being the masters of Macau and their enthusiasm to participate in politics.

And, Chief Executive concluded the Government would continue to communicate and cooperate with the new Legislative Assembly, in order to work for the development of Macau.
