Edmund Ho Hau-wah, Chief Executive of Macau Special Administration Region, gained fruitful results during his 5-day official visit to Japan.
After the meeting with Prime Minister of Japan, Yoshiro MORI, Edmund Ho indicated that the Prime Minister clearly expressed that Japan will support Macau´/;s IT development.
Ho believed that the relevant Macau officials would discuss the way in co-operation with the related officials of Japan thru the Consulate General of Japan to Hong Kong and Macau. He said that the program would be proceeding in Macau and radiated from the SAR to the rest of the Pearl River Delta.
Besides, Macau and Japan will re-open charter flights by the end of this year.
The Chief Executive visited the Ministry of Transports of Japan on the 19th. He indicated afterwards that the Ministry would promote Macau´/;s tourism in the country and launch Macau-Japan charter flight service.
Macau Government Tourist Office held a press conference on the following day, announced that there would be 6 charter flights between Macau, Nagasaki and Fukuoka from December 30th of 2000 to January 8th of 2001.
Edmund Ho also met Japan¡¦s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yohei KONO, before the lunch hosted by the Minister on the 20th. Referring to the question about the implementation of "one country, two systems" in Macau, Edmund Ho indicated that the situation was very satisfactory although the policy was put into effect only for a short period and still improving. He considered that it was a great idea for the settlement of the questions of Hong Kong, Macau and eventually Taiwan.
Besides of the above meetings, Edmund Ho also visited various government departments, companies and the major business federation of Japan "Keidanren"during his 5-day visit in Japan.
