The Macau Holy House of Mercy is one of the longest-established charitable associations in the city, having been founded by Bishop D. Belchior Carneiro, the first Bishop in Macao, in 1569.

The Macau Holy House of Mercy has a number of facilities, including a Museum Centre, inaugurated on 14 December 2001, at its headquarters building off Senado Square.

Proceeds from entry-ticket sales for the Museum Centre are used to support charitable projects by the Macau Holy House of Mercy.

The Museum Centre has an exquisite collection of exhibits, ranging from centuries-old pieces illustrating the history of the Macau Holy House of Mercy, pieces of sacred art, other religious artwork, and further images and sculptures.

Portraits of donors are featured on the walls of this meeting room. The room’s configuration, including the furniture, has a classic style typical of the 20th century.

A highlight of the exhibits is the original manuscript of the Commitment of the Macau Holy House of Mercy, dated 1662.
