  • The Athletes Training and Development Centre opened in December 2019. The facility seeks to boost development of Macao's competitive-sports sector. It is next to the Macao East Asian Games Dome, in Cotai.

  • The Athletes Training and Development Centre has two multifunctional gymnasium halls, a five-storey training facility, and a nine-storey dormitory. Overall, the complex can accommodate simultaneous training sessions for a variety of sports.

  • The two multifunctional gymnasium halls, known respectively as Hall A and Hall B, each have 5,000 square metres of space.

  • The ground floor of the five-storey training facility boasts a weight-training centre, with a gross floor area of 1,000 square metres, as well as a 25-metre-long indoor pool.

  • The other floors of the training facility provide an aggregate 4,000 square metres of space, to support athletes’ training needs.

  • In the initial phase of the centre, it is hosting five teams, representing respectively the sports of wushu, taekwondo, karate-do, judo, and dance. It is expected that eventually, more teams will use the facility.

  • With the launch of the Athletes Training and Development Centre, the Government hopes to push forward professional development of the local sports sector by providing a higher-standard training environment for local athletes than has been available previously.

  • The Government’s aim is that the Centre not only optimises professional assistance and support for Macao athletes, but also does so in a systematic way.
