  • Lotus Cycle Track is at Estrada do Dique Oeste in Taipa. The track runs for 1,700 metres along the shoreline there, and offers users pleasant views of green surroundings.

  • While on the track, users can also enjoy views of the Lotus Flower Bridge and of Hengqin island in Zhuhai.

  • From October to April, several types of migratory bird visit Macao in search of milder conditions. Conservation work to protect the waterside mangroves near the Lotus Cycle Track has proven successful, based on the number of birds either living on – or foraging among – the shallows.

  • Black-winged stilt can be seen in these pictures. The birds make a stopover to feed in Macao while travelling along their migration routes. Either a recovery from their exertions or a change in the weather can trigger a continued move southward or a return to the north.

  • Birds resting in the shallows against the backdrop of a golden sunset are a poignant reminder of the distinctive beauty of the natural world.
