  • The “2020 Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Cup Regatta & Macao Cup International Regatta” has seen four full days of successful racing.

  • More than 300 participants competed in the second edition of the city’s international sailing competition.

  • Macao’s 76.7-kilometre long coastline offers great conditions for international regattas.

  • Success in sailing requires the commitment, hard work and skill of the entire crew.

  • Updraughts and downdraughts affect wind speed and direction at sea, and this has an influence on competitive ocean-going sailing. Crews make every effort to take advantage of the dynamics of the wind in order to complete successfully the regatta.

  • Stable wind conditions and relatively small waves provide favourable conditions for crews engaged in competition around Macao’s coastline.

  • The participating yachts set sail from Macao Fisherman's Wharf, on the Macao peninsula, and sailed through the Macau Science Center, the Kun Iam Ecumenical Centre, and under the Governador Nobre de Carvalho Bridge, to finish at the Macau Tower. Such route allowed for a greater number of spectators to watch the sporting event along Macao’s shore.

  • The organisers hope this sailing event to complement Macao’s calendar of sporting events, as well as to advance Macao as a world centre of tourism and centre.
