  • The Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) Government is committed to optimising its planning for provision of public housing. Its efforts include reserving land in new urban area known as Zone A, to support a planned development of a total of 28,000 public housing units.

  • “Homes for all in a contented society” is a core concept of the Macao SAR Government’s public housing policy. A total of 47,000 public housing units has been built and occupied in Macao.

  • The Seac Pai Van public housing complex consists of three buildings under the Home-Ownership Scheme, i.e., On Son Building, the Koi Nga Building and the Ip Heng Building. The complex also has a public housing estate named Lok Kuan Building. Together they provide a total of 9,015 units, being the largest public housing project in Macao.

  • The Ilha Verde Building, located on Avenida do Conselheiro Borja in Macao, is made up of five blocks – each with 35 floors – providing a total of 2,356 housing units. Of that aggregate, 345 units have one bedroom; 1,577 units have two bedrooms; and 434 have three bedrooms.

  • The design of the units at the Ilha Verde Building takes into consideration natural ventilation and natural lighting, and also the need to protect the environment. The aim is to create a comfortable and habitable environment for the building’s occupants.

  • The Macao SAR Government pays great attention to the environment relating to public housing and to supporting facilities. The ground-floor level of the Ilha Verde Building has a bus station to meet the needs of those commuting to other parts of the city.

  • The Macao SAR Government has closely adhered to a policy of "Public housing as the core, supplemented by the Home-Ownership Scheme", and has a policy vision of granting to disadvantaged groups priority for public housing. The Iat Seng Building, a public housing estate located on Estrada Nordeste in Taipa, has an aggregate of 694 units.

  • The Macao SAR Government places non-slip tiles in the units of the Iat Seng Building, with a view to meeting the particular needs of the elderly, and those with physical challenges.

  • The design of the Iat Seng Building has features aimed at energy efficiency, making good use of natural ventilation and natural light.

  • The Macao SAR Government is always looking to increase its resources to meet the needs of disadvantaged groups. One of the many examples is that lifts at the Iat Seng Building are all equipped with embossed control buttons and have audible warning tones.
