  • In the year of the celebrations for the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China and for the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the Macao Special Administrative Region, the Sculpture Park of the Chinese Ethnics has been relocated from Big Taipa Hill, in Taipa, to the Garden of Commander Ho Yin on Macao peninsula.

  • The Sculpture Park of the Chinese Ethnics opened on the Taipa site in 2009. It displays a total of 56 sculptures, each one representing a member of an ethnic group within China. The works were provided by a selection of 56 renowned sculptors from the mainland.

  • The 56 sculptures – and a supporting exhibition centre also transferred to the Macao peninsula site – present information about traditional dress of ethnic groups of China, their handicrafts and musical instruments. The aim of the display is to illustrate the diversity of ethnic cultures within China.

  • The sculptures and exhibition centre seek to inform the public about the attire of Chinese ethnic groups, their crafts and musical instruments, and show the ethnic diversity of China.

  • Now – in its 10th year of existence – the Sculpture Park of the Chinese Ethnics has been relocated to the Garden of Commander Ho Yin, on Macao peninsula, from Big Taipa Hill in Taipa. This is so a greater number of residents and tourists can appreciate and learn about the unique culture and characteristics of China’s ethnic groups.

  • The display’s parkland setting is designed to promote a spirit of peace and harmony as well as to explain the characteristics of China’s ethnic groups. It also aims to promote solidarity among the various ethnic groups of the country.

  • The Sculpture Park of the Chinese Ethnics is now located at the Garden of Commander Ho Yin, which also houses a pavilion in commemoration of Macao’s return to the motherland. The garden is adjacent to the Commemorative Gallery of the Macao Basic Law and Golden Lotus Square. When visiting this network of public spaces and facilities, members of the public have the chance to deepen their knowledge about the concepts behind the Constitution of the People’s Republic of China, and the Basic Law of Macao. By doing so, they also have the chance to spread the spirit of harmony regarding China’s ethnic groups and cultivate a deeper sense of love for the country and for Macao.
