  • Summer school-holiday tours for children – to water reservoirs, a water-treatment plant, and Macao’s Water Resources Interactive Exhibition Hall – aim to teach them about the city’s water resources, and the technology and processes for treating raw water supplied to Macao.

  • The tours are open to families with children aged between 6 to 12. Staff from Macao’s Marine and Water Bureau and from the Macao Water Supply Company provide commentary during the tours.

  • Each tour starts at Hac Sa Reservoir at Coloane. The group then visits a water tank located 50 metres above ground level, the Seac Pai Van Reservoir, and the Main Storage Reservoir on Macao peninsula. The aim is to educate the participants about the importance of each process and facility involved in the city’s water supply.

  • Tour participants have opportunities to see how raw water is processed in a section of pipeline at the Canal dos Patos; and at facilities at Ilha Verde Water Treatment Plant. The experience gives tour groups insights on the evolution of water-treatment methods in Macao, and the modern techniques used.

  • Children get a chance to taste freshly-processed water.

  • Parents and children taking part in the visits are given access to the central control room at Ilha Verde Water Treatment Plant.

  • The Water Resources Interactive Exhibition Hall is at the Macao Science Center. The exhibition hall aims to showcase Macao's existing water resources and the planning for future development of such resources.

  • Children enjoy games at the Water Resources Interactive Exhibition Hall.

  • The tours enable participants to get a better understanding of Macao’s water supply system and improve their awareness of how much water they consume. An aim is to encourage water-saving habits and so help the environment.
