  • The People's Liberation Army (PLA) Macao Garrison opened its Taipa barracks during 30 April to 2 May to members of the public to demonstrate troop training and the garrison’s defence capabilities.

  • The open-day event starts with a guard-of-honour ceremony performed by a group of 112 soldiers.

  • The open day provides the public with better understanding of the garrison’s hands-on training.

  • A soldier demonstrates during the public event the troops’ routine physical training.

  • During the open day, members of the public have opportunities to gain a better understanding of military culture within the Taipa barracks facility.

  • The open-day event also promotes community understanding of military discipline and weaponry.

  • Visitors have the chance to hold some of the weaponry and have a photograph taken while posing with it.

  • A soldier from the PLA Macao Garrison guides a child on the workings of one of the heavier weapon systems on display.

  • At the open day, the public can visit a museum outlining the history of the PLA Macao Garrison. It is a chance to learn how the local garrison and the country’s defence capability have developed over the years.

  • A PLA Macao Garrison member talks to visitors about daily life at the Taipa barracks.
