Junior ‘drivers’ take part in a ‘mini Grand Prix’ event ahead of the city’s annual full-scale motorsport meeting, which this year is scheduled for 15 to 18 November. The children’s event is part of a Family Carnival arranged by the Macau Grand Prix Organizing Committee. This aspect of the Carnival lets youngsters experience the fun part of racing.

During the Family Carnival, Tap Seac Square is turned into a ‘mini Guia Circuit’ for little racers to get a small taste of the excitement of motorsport, ahead of the adult professional and amateur drivers that compete in various events around Macao’s 6.2-kilometre street circuit during a weekend of racing.

For children and their parents, the ‘mini Grand Prix’ is as thrilling as the real one.

Most car racing is about lap times. The Family Carnival offers chances to learn more about the technology used to keep time accurately.

Besides ‘motor racing’, those taking part in the Family Carnival also have opportunities to understand better other roles in the car-racing scene, such as those of rescue workers.

Electrical engineers play a crucial role in modern car racing. In the Family Carnival, a child tries to pass a ‘test’ of not touching barriers when navigating a scale model of Guia Circuit.
