  • The Tertiary Education Services Office organises a training camp for university students to let them learn more about protocols for raising national flag of China, under guidance from the People's Liberation Army (PLA) Macao Garrison.

  • A group of some 80 students and teaching members from eight local universities take part in the training camp.

  • Training camp encompasses a visit to the military museum at the PLA Macao Garrison Barracks in Taipa, in order to gain better grasps on Chinese modern and contemporary history, development of the PLA and history of PLA troops stationing in Macao.

  • Participants have the opportunity to understand better the national flag, the anthem and the national emblem.

  • Main purposes of the training camp are to let youngsters know how to hoist the national flag in outdoors and etiquette when the national anthem is played.

  • Skills of marching and standing to attention are also essential to be flagstaff.

  • Participants practising how to escort the national flag during a ceremony.

  • Participants of the training camp are instructed by a soldier on handling etiquette when attaching the flag to the flagpole.

  • The training camp aims at strengthening participants’ patriotism and their sense of national pride.
