Crowd control measures will be implemented for the month to shield “Kai Kai” and “Xin Xin” from possible anxiety caused by meeting too many visitors in their new home. The Pavilion remained closed until Monday for disinfection, renewal of facilities and preparations for the opening.
The pair has been transferred to the Pavilion on 27 May from a local farm, where they were quarantined upon their arrival on 30 April. Their conditions remained stable.
“Kai Kai” and “Xin Xin” are getting used to the environment in Macao, judging from their behaviour, mental condition and eating habits.
The Civic and Municipal Affairs Bureau will decide on the visitors schedule of July after closely observing how they respond to the visitors.
A celebratory carnival will be held at Seac Pai Van Park on Sunday (31 May). Activities would include performances, games, lucky draws, and an exhibition on the condition of pandas in the mainland.
The gift of the giant pandas was announced by President Xi Jinping when he here last December for the inauguration of the new government team. They replace an earlier pair which female partner died last year and male was returned to Sichuan for breeding.
