Leisure Area of Kun Iam Statue Waterfront has been very popular with the public and has received 800,000 visitors since its opening. The Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) utilises the green space on the waterfront and continues to optimise the facilities and environment in the area of Leisure Area of Kun Iam Statue Waterfront to provide a more comfortable leisure activity space for the public and improve their quality of life. Recently, the functional layout and facilities in the area between Leisure Area of Kun Iam Statue Waterfront and Macao Science Center have been enhanced. Multiple landmarks in the area have been connected to radiate to the public activity space nearby and create a synergetic effect to establish “Star on Coast”, an integrated zone with multiple functions and elements, including children’s play, leisure and sport, food and beverage, arts and culture, science popularisation, etc.

From 25 March to 23 April, IAM, the Urban Planning and Construction Bureau of Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin and the Macao Science Center will jointly organise an activity in “Star on Coast” on the theme of ecological conservation and scientific knowledge. An ecology-themed exhibition will be set up on site to introduce wetland ecosystem and information about ecological conservation. A number of parent-child activities, stargazing activities, ecology workshops and interactive games will also be held. Advance registration is required for some activities, and the public can pay attention to “Macao One Account” for registration. Some activities can be joined on site. The enthusiastic participation of the public, especially parents and children, is welcome.

Kiosks with special appearances selling food and beverage, outdoor café and large-scale outdoor installations have also been set up in “Star on Coast” for the public to take pictures. A “Busking Point” of the Cultural Affairs Bureau is also set up in the zone to expand the performance platform of art and cultural workers and increase the art and cultural atmosphere of the public’s lives and communities. The public can also stroll along the waterfront to appreciate the sunset on the coast and the urban skyline on the southern waterfront at night to experience a leisurely and romantic atmosphere to enhance their sense of well-being.

Furthermore, IAM opens the children’s bumper car track inside Leisure Area of Kun Iam Statue Waterfront today. The opening hours are from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. from Monday to Friday, and 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Saturday, Sunday and public holidays. The children’s bumper car track is for the use of children aged between 3 and 12, and children aged between 3 and 6 must be accompanied by their parents when they ride in the bumper cars. Each play session lasts 5 minutes. Users are advised to comply with the instructions of the on-site staff and pay attention to safety when they play. The public can make bookings for using the bumper cars through the “Advance Booking System for Visiting Green Facilities” https://app.iam.gov.mo/gfbooking starting from 3:00 p.m. on 23 March.
