The Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture, Chui Sai On, discussed yesterday (11 March) the economic and tourism outlook in Macao with President of the OECD Development Centre, Jorge Braga de Macedo.
Jorge Braga de Macedo visited the Special Administrative Region to participate in a conference organized by International Institute of Macao.
The President introduced the activities of Development Centre created in 1962 by the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) in Paris, and several economic studies on China’s economy growth and the emerging and developing economies of Africa.
He added that Macao could in fact perform a role as a gateway to China with its geographic privileges and cultural and historical uniqueness.
Meanwhile, Chui Sai On briefed the president on the development of tourism following the establishment of Special Administrative Region underlining its major source markets: Hong Kong, the Mainland and Taiwan.
He emphasized the Government’s support to the organization of conventions and other international meetings in MSAR, for the opinions and suggestions presented by academics and experts are valuable to the development of Macao.
