The SAR Government would continue to assess the situation as Hong Kong Government decided to authorize and regulate soccer betting, said the Secretary for Economy and Finance, Francis Tam.

He said that the Government remains optimistic about revenues from gaming tax in next year.

There are many aspects that the two SARs could develop together and be complementary to each other, said Francis Tam, adding that he does not think that the move is directed against Macao.

He also believed that the experience of the local soccer-betting operator is a positive factor for maintaining its competitiveness.
