  • Cheok Ka Village is one of the oldest villages in Taipa, with a history spanning more than 300 years. It is located in the northern part of Taipa, near the campus of the City University of Macau.

  • Buildings in the village mostly have two storeys and are side by side. Houses that are 100 years old still stand in Cheok Ka Village.

  • In the past, the village’s inhabitants mostly engaged in agriculture. To date, there are about 10 families still living in the village.

  • Towering banyan trees stand on both sides of an alley leading to Cheok Ka Village.

  • Within Cheok Ka Village, there are Tin Hao Temple (pictured left) and Kuan Tai Temple (pictured right). Their plastered walls are painted green.

  • Following Macao’s community development in recent years, Cheok Ka Village is now surrounded by tall buildings.
