The Novel Coronavirus Response and Coordination Centre (hereinafter referred to as “the Centre”) announces that, in response to the COVID-19 outbreak dated 4 October, on the basis of the third round of citywide nucleic acid testing drive, another testing drive will be initiated for key areas nearby the Red Code Zones in order to exclude any potential and hidden COVID-19 cases in the Macao community. This nucleic acid testing programme for key areas will be carried out on 17 October (Sunday), from 09:00 to 00:00, and the target groups of the drive include:

The concerned individuals will receive a text message reminder to undergo the nucleic acid test; the Macao Health Code of people who fail to be tested on time will be converted into yellow after 24 hours until completion of the test.
  1. During the period of 26 September to 4 October, people who have worked or had activities in the abovementioned area(s); during the period of 26 September to 4 October, people who have taken the 1, 7, 8, 10, 12, 18, 19, 21A, 23, 25, 25B, 51A or AP1 bus routes. For people who are included in the high-frequency NAT programme, people within the red or yellow coded zones, or people who have been tested against COVID-19 at or after 09:00 of 16 October, they will be exempted from participating in this drive.

There will be a total of 13 NAT sampling stations in this nucleic acid testing drive for key areas. The Community Service Complex of the General Union of Macao Residents’ Associations will serve as the special care sampling station of which prior booking is not required. General public sampling stations of which prior booking is required include Escola dos Moradores de Macau, Zheng Guanying Public School, Keang Peng Middle School (Secondary Section), Sino-Portuguese Technical Professional School – Indoor Sports Hall, Pui Ching Middle School, 1/F of Macao Federation of Trade Unions Workers Stadium, Tap Seac Multisport Pavilion A, Macao Cultural Centre, Olympic Sports Centre – Indoor Pavilion, Seac Pai Van Family Support and Community Service Complex of the General Union of Macao Residents’ Associations, Qingmao Port, as well as Venetian Cotai Arena A, B and C.

Apart from the above, the high-frequency NAT programme which includes 3 trades (all renovation and laundry workers, and security guards) and 2 population groups (Nepalese and Vietnamese non-resident workers) will continue. The concerned individuals should get tested once every other day for 4 consecutive times. Testing sites, of which prior booking is required, include 5 regular NAT stations (located in Pac On Ferry Terminal, Macao Forum, Kiang Wu Hospital, University Hospital, and Macao Federation of Trade Unions Workers Stadium) and 10 additional NAT stations (located at Grand Lisboa, Sands, Venetian, Wynn Macau, Wynn Palace, Broadway, StarWorld, MGM Macau, MGM Cotai and Studio City).

People who do nucleic acid test for border-crossing purpose should schedule their booking at the 6 self-paid sampling stations, namely Macao Forum, Pac On Ferry Terminal, Kiang Wu Hospital, University Hospital, Macao Federation of Trade Unions Workers Stadium, and Nam Yue Hengqin Port, which can provide paper report of the test result.

The Centre emphasizes that, all the sampling stations above will operate as usual during the NAT drive for key areas. Besides, in consideration that COVID-19 vaccination may result in false positive result in nucleic acid test through environment or clothing contamination, people just got vaccinated against COVID-19 should not undergo nucleic acid test until at least 24 hours after leaving the vaccination site. In case vaccination and nucleic acid test must be carried out on the same day, it is advised to get tested first before receiving the inoculation. Amid the period of the NAT programme for key areas, all vaccination stations will provide services as usual. People aged 12 or above who are not fully vaccinated may schedule an appointment via https://eservice.ssm.gov.mo/covidvacbook. In each vaccination station, there are two queues for scheduled vaccination and on-site vaccination. Priority will be given to vaccinations for those who have made an appointment. Those who have not made an appointment can queue up on the spot without a limit.
