As the pandemic situation continues to stay stable, the Macao Special Administrative Region Government has progressively unrolled an array of physical events to promote the destination in Mainland China, including a series of “Macao Weeks”. Among the series, the “Macao Week in Jiangsu” will be held in Nanjing from 13 – 17 May. The event will feature a mega roadshow, Macao tourism and MICE presentation seminar, business matching and networking, food promotion among other highlights to showcase Macao as a healthy, safe and quality destination to residents and visitors in Nanjing. The event seeks to expand the spectrum of visitor source, attract Mainland visitors for travel and spending in Macao to spur tourism and economic revival.

Colorful activities and experiences

Involving various governmental entities from Macao as well as the support of different enterprises and commerce associations, the Macao Week in Jiangsu will promote Macao as a healthy, safe and quality destination vibrant with integrated elements across fields including tourism + MICE, tourism + culture and creativity, tourism + e-commerce, as well as tourism + sports and so forth. The event program encompasses a Macao tourism and MICE presentation seminar, business matching and networking, as well as food promotion on 13 May, followed by the Macao Week in Jiangsu’s opening ceremony and roadshow to be unveiled the next day, etc.

Mega Roadshow radiates warm hospitality

As a major highlight of the Macao Week in Jiangsu, the mega roadshow will unfold along the Pedestrian Street at Confucius Temple in Nanjing for four days in a row from 14 May to showcase Macao’s tourism, commerce and trade, culture, creativity, sports, entertainment and more dimensions. To radiate Macao’s spirit of hospitality in the city, a variety of themed zones/booths will be set up along the Pedestrian Street, including a showcase of Macao overview and tourism events; Macao’s tourism industry; Macao’s World Heritage, Intangible Cultural Heritage and Macao Good Shop; MAK MAK Shop; sport events in Macao; trade, commerce and economy of Macao; and Tourist Information counter.

Following the opening ceremony, spectators can enjoy a thoughtfully-arranged program of spectacular performances at the main stage from 14 – 17 May, which will offer a window onto Macao’s East-and-West cultural symphony and unique charm with its culturally-diverse harmony. There will be Lion Dance, Dragon Dance, Portuguese Folk Dance and Choi Lei Fat Martial Arts, all of which are inscribed on the Inventory of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Macao. In addition, Macao’s music band Tuna Macanese will perform Macanese music, while Macao singers will perform original songs composed by musicians from Macao. Other performances include “MAK MAK” street dance, special dance and more. Macao Tourism Mascot “MAK MAK” will show up for lively performance and a close encounter with residents and visitors in Nanjing.

Trade presents special travel offers worth over 90 million RMB

During the event, pertinent integrated tourism enterprises and airline company will present a total of over 90-million-RMB special travel offers on air tickets, hotel accommodation, dining and more for sale at the roadshow and their platforms. The organizer also rolls out an extensive promotional campaign for the Macao Week in Jiangsu through various online and offline platforms while leveraging the wide influence of different travel KOLs from the Mainland.

The Macao SAR Government has launched the scheme “to expand visitor source, revive the economy and secure employment opportunities” since last September to promote special offers of buy-one-get-one-free air tickets for visitors via e-commerce platforms. Ongoing promotion for tourism + MICE

Targeting business travel markets, Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) and the Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) have jointly organized Macao tourism and MICE presentation seminars successively at the Macao Weeks in Beijing and Hangzhou, and later in five Greater-Bay-Area cities in March and April: Guangzhou, Dongguan, Zhongshan, Zhaoqing and Huizhou. Seizing the golden opportunity brought by the Macao Week in Jiangsu to be held in Nanjing, the two offices will hold another Macao tourism and MICE presentation seminar on 13 May to present the strengths of the tourism and MICE industries in both cities and facilitate networking among industry delegates from both sides to expand visitor source.

Highlighting Macao’s unique brand in Jiangsu – Macanese and Portuguese cuisine

MGTO, Jinling Hotel Nanjing and Macau Cuisine Association will together roll out a gastronomic promotion from 13 – 26 May to bring into the limelight Macao’s unique gastronomic brand – Macanese and Portuguese cuisine, and radiate Macao’s glamour as a Creative City of Gastronomy.

During the Macao Week in Jiangsu, the units involved will rigorously follow the COVID-19 prevention guidelines issued by Nanjing’s public health authorities to support pandemic prevention while all participants must adhere to the arrangements for pandemic prevention.

More information about the Macao Week in Jiangsu will be coming up on MGTO’s official accounts on WeChat, Weibo, Xiaohongshu and Douyin. At the same time, visitors are advised to complete the formalities for entry and pandemic prevention before visiting Macao and adhere to pandemic prevention guidelines issued by the Macao SAR Government during their stay.

The Macao Week in Jiangsu is organized by the Secretariat for Economy and Finance of the Macao SAR Government, and co-organized by the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of Jiangsu Provincial People’s Government and the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of Nanjing Municipal People’s Government. The coordinators include Macao Government Tourism Office, Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute, Qinhuai District People’s Government of Nanjing Municipality. The supporting entities include Cultural Affairs Bureau of the Macao SAR Government, Sports Bureau of the Macao SAR Government, Nanjing Municipal Bureau of Commerce, Nanjing Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism, China Council for the Promotion of International Trade Nanjing Sub-council, Nanjing Federation of Industry and Commerce, Industrial Association of Macau, Macau Importers & Exporters Association, the Federal General Commercial Association of Macau Small and Medium Enterprises, Macau Cuisine Association and Jinling Hotel Nanjing. The participating entities include the six major integrated resorts, airline company and various small and medium-sized enterprises from Macao.
