The Macao Cultural Centre, under the auspices of the Cultural Affairs Bureau, is calling local filmmakers to submit their new cinematic proposals for the new edition of “Local View Power” (LVP) until January 23, 2017. This yearly film project has been producing and taking to the silver screen the most exciting stories about Macao.

The LVP will finance individual proposals with up to MOP 270,000 out of an overall budget of more than MOP1,000,000 for all its categories. Its format welcomes candidates spread amongst three experience tiers, from “Advanced” and “Open” levels aimed at directors aged 18 or above, to the “Freshmen” which welcomes all enthusiastic wannabes. Participants will be competing into “Documentary”, “Short Feature” and “Animation” categories, who will be assessed by a panel composed of three audio-visual professionals.  This year, the Jury is composed of veteran film critic Cheung Wai-Hung, Hong Kong Art Centre’s Programme Director Teresa Kwong, and a representative from the CUT Audio-visual Association.

LVP stimulates and nurtures creative works by both emerging and established filmmakers since 2007. These nine editions were enthusiastically received with participants submitting over 450 proposals, a dynamic flow that has resulted in 90 finalized works, some of them awarded overseas, confirming LVP’s creative and productive path. Selected teams will be given technical and financial support to complete their productions, including a Mentorship scheme under which the team will be guided by guest professionals. This year the mentoring team garnered Clara Choi, a former documentary producer at the Radio and Television Hong Kong, Mathew Tang, an experienced film producer of numerous awarding-winning productions, and Puzzle Lai, a local animator and lecturer at several institutes.

Those who wish to see their ideas displayed on the big screen can download application forms for “Local View Power 2016-2017” at CCM’s website until January 23, 2017. For further inquiries, please visit http://www.ccm.gov.mo, or call (853) 2870 0699.
