The revelations about China in the Portuguese physician Garcia de Orta´s treatise, the reports of the Portuguese Consul and novelist Eça de Queirós on Chinese emigration coming from Macau, the life of the “Son of Macau” Zheng Guanying and the “Mandarin’s House” are prominent themes of the latest RCI.

The study of the influence of religion in Macao society today is also presented, as well as the recurrent theme of the establishment and proliferation of the Jesuits in Asia.

Before closing this issue with the regular module dedicated to the literary heritage of China, where an annotated translation expounds the ideas of the literatus Ji Kang’s on the nature of music and its interaction with social institutions and human psychology, an article on the contribution to the history of the Lisbon-Macau air raid focusing on the political repercussions that the feat had on the First Portuguese Republic.
