The “China-Portuguese Speaking Countries Cooperation and Development Fund Promotion Session” will be held at 10 a.m. on 12 October (Thursday) at Lotus Room, 5th Floor, World Trade Center Macau by the Macao Economic Services (DSE). This is the first promotion session since the official settlement of the China-Portuguese Speaking Countries Cooperation and Development Fund (referred to hereafter as “CPDFund”) in Macao in June this year, aiming to enhance understanding of the Fund among the industrial and commercial sectors in Macao, promote investment and cooperation between China and Portuguese-speaking countries and further implement the series of measures of the Central Government to support the development of Macao.
The CPDFund was one of the cooperation measures announced by the Chinese Government in 2010 during the “3rd Ministerial Conference of Forum Macao”. It was officially established in June 2013 with a view to promoting cooperation in finance, investment and economy and trade between enterprises in China (including the Macao SAR) and those in Portuguese-speaking countries and building a platform for economic and trade investment between China and Portuguese-speaking countries; it will strive to cover all Portuguese-speaking countries in multiple aspects such as service industry, infrastructure, energy, manufacturing industry, agriculture, etc. for future business development. Currently, the total amount of the CPDFund is 1 billion U.S. Dollars, jointly funded by the China Development Bank and the Macao Industrial and Commercial Development Fund. The successful settlement of the CPDFund in Macao will benefit local enterprises in “going abroad” by creating additive advantages, especially in the aspect of exploring markets in Portuguese-speaking countries.
A presentation on the targets of services, investment criteria, forms of investment and application procedures of the CPDFund will be given at this Promotion Session, along with specialised topic presentations on the investment and development of energy industry and manufacturing industry in Portuguese-speaking countries. Simultaneous interpretation will be available in Chinese and Portuguese at the Session. The public is welcomed to attend. To enquire and reserve, please call Ms. Chan (Tel.: 8597 2168) of DSE for details.
